About PC Error Codes

PC Error Codes exists for one moment: something has gone wrong on your Windows PC, the screen is showing a code or a message you do not understand, and you need to know — calmly, in plain English — what it means and what to do next.

What we do

We take the error codes, update failures, startup problems and warnings that Windows shows and translate them: what the code means, whether it is serious, and one safe, numbered fix, safest step first. Where Windows 10 and Windows 11 do things differently, both sets of steps are on the same page.

Who it is for

Anyone who uses a Windows PC at home — every age. The pages are written to be followed by someone who is not technical, on a bad day, possibly reading on a phone while the PC sits broken beside them. Large type, numbered steps, and pages you can print and take to the computer.

What we never do

We never sell the fix. There are no downloads here, no registry cleaners, no driver updaters, no paid “support”, and never a phone number to call. If any page anywhere asks you for those things while claiming to fix an error code, treat it as a scam — that is exactly the trap our Real or Fake category exists to expose.

How fixes are checked

Every fix is written against Microsoft's own documentation (Microsoft Learn and Microsoft Support), shows the date it was checked, and is re-checked after major Windows updates. The full method is on How We Verify. Found a mistake? Please tell us via Contact — corrections are fixed and noted, not quietly buried.
